Year 8 visit Beaudesert 10-14 March 2008 |
|
On the 10th and 11th March (the S half) and the 12th and 14th March (the O half) went on an outdoor physical education trip to Beaudesert on Cannock Chase. There were lots of interesting activities for us to do and also there were lots of team building skills to be learnt. When we arrived we were split into two groups. One group did the activities first and the other did a three mile walk followed by orienteering (on the second day they swapped round). The three mile walk took us around the whole of Beaudesert, we all thought that the walk was both fun and challenging, however, we all got very muddy and wet!
For archery the first thing we did was have a few practices then we played each other to see who could get the highest score. For the low ropes course we had to get into pairs and take it in turns to go along the course, we were then challenged to see who could fall off the least number of times. We were then set a big challenge to do the course blindfolded! It was so much fun! For the team building skills activity there were two separate challenges. The first challenge was to imagine that there was a pit that you had to cross and you only had three planks of wood to do so. The aim of the game was to get all of your team across in as a little time as possible.

After we had finished the walk we were given a map of Beaudesert and we then had to find all of the letters that were scattered around to spell out a word. We thought that the orienteering was fun but hard because the words were well hidden! There were lots of fun activities for us to do at Cannock Chase. These were; tree climbing, archery, low ropes course, team building skills and go-carting. For the tree climbing we had to climb a ladder onto the tree, we then had to find a way to the top, if we got to the top then we had to ring a bell. Finally we had to get down!
The second challenge was the funniest. There was a drain pipe with holes in and there was a rubber duck at the bottom. The idea was that we had to go and fetch water and pour it into the drain pipe to get the rubber duck, we had to cover as many holes up as possible so the water didn’t get out, this was the wettest activity of them all because everyone got soaked! For go-carting we had to make it around the track as quickly as we could. It was so much fun! The whole trip was really a lot of fun and challenging and everyone enjoyed themselves. Y8 students |
